Your Sump Pump Options

Are you on the market for a sump pump? One of the reasons you should call a pro for your sump pump installation is to ensure you have the right type of pump, along with sufficient power to remove water from your crawlspace or basement so it doesn’t infiltrate the rest of your home. You should know though, there are two main types of sump pumps, which we’ve outlined below.

  • Pedestal Sump Pump: This type of sump pump sits above the water collection pit (known as the sump) and draws up the water through a pipe, then removing it to the wastewater system. These pumps are easy to maintain, but aren’t necessarily as energy efficient as a submersible sump pump.
  • Submersible Sump Pump: If you choose a submersible sump pump installation, you’ll have a sump pump that works very efficiently. Due to its set up—the sump pump sits down in the sump itself and activates when water begins to rise above it—a submersible sump pump does suffer more wear and tear than its pedestal sump pump counterpart. It functions by pulling water through intakes and forcing it up through a pipe from the sump.

Quality Sump Pump Repair and Sump Pump Maintenance

A sump pump working in your home may put in a lot of work throughout the years, and though it doesn’t require too much complex care, it’s still important to have maintenance and prompt repairs done when needed.

If you’ve found that your sump pump is in need of repair, please don’t hesitate to contact our team. We recommend you test your sump pump twice a year, but if during this test you find something amiss, or it just isn’t starting up, then it’s time to call our pros.

Do You Need Sump Pump Replacement?

If your sump pump has been through a few stormy seasons and done its job faithfully, it may be time to start thinking about retiring the system. Knowing when to invest in a sump pump replacement is important, as it means you’ll always be prepared for the next storm that can send water rushing into your home.

So if you tested your aging sump pump to find it’s not working as efficiently as it once did, or not functioning at all, and repairs won’t help much, then it may be time for a sump pump replacement. Contact our team to learn more!
